Zion Lutheran Church in Chanute, KS and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt, KS are part of a Dual Parish served by Pastor Matt Jennings. They began this partnership on February 1, 2026.
The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod
Zion Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. This means that we are a biblically grounded congregation that confesses the Christian faith as expressed in the Book of Concord. We believe in the divine inspiration of Scripture and thus hold it as our highest authority. The Book of Concord, then, helps us maintain our faithfulness to the testimonies of Scripture.
Ultimately, we believe that the Scriptures are given that we may know Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, and that by believing in Him we have life in His name. Christian faith continually flows out from and back into Jesus and the salvation He accomplished for us on the cross and in the empty tomb. Jesus Himself declares, “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me,” (John 5:39).
