Pastor Matt Jennings was installed as pastor at Zion on February 1, 2026. He served as the Vacancy pastor from August 2024-January 31, 2026. Pastor Jennings also serves as pastor of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt, KS (January 2022-current).
Pastor Jennings has 5 adult children, 7 grandchildren, 2 dogs and 2 cats.

From the Pastor: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
I looked online to find results of a survey to see what most people are thankful for. Surprisingly there aren’t too many polls out there that had the data I was looking for. But what I did find are things that we should be thankful for:
1. Family and friends
2. Our enemies and those who challenge us
3. Mind and body
4. Loving and learning
5. Mistakes
Now I understand that this list was complied with someone’s opinion and no data collected to see how we feel about this list. I look at it and see that there are many things here that we really should be thankful for. Family/friends, loving/learning and what I found interesting in this list was: mistakes.
Trying to find thankfulness in mistakes can be a tough one. Especially when we really don’t like to admit the fact that we make mistakes. But admitting that we are not perfect and in need of saving is what the Holy Spirit does for us. He helps us to see the need for a Savior.
That is the beauty of being a part of a Bible–believing Trinitarian Christian Church like St. Peter’s. We know that the inerrant Word of God is where we receive God’s gift of the Good News that Jesus’ death and resurrection has saved us from our sins.
Something that we are truly THANKFUL for. Not only this month, but always.
